One side of it began with Rossi & Rovetti Flower Delivery, which began on May 3, 1900, represents a legacy of exceptional floral artistry and customer service. Entwined with the city's fabric, our family owned florist symbolizes the profound ability of flowers to evoke emotion, celebrate pivotal moments, and enrich daily life. Our journey, once marked by a friendly rivalry with Podesta Baldocchi Flowers—founded on January 30, 1871—eventually led to a unique union through inter-family marriages, blending two venerable San Francisco families into one.

Despite this amalgamation, Podesta Baldocchi and Rossi & Rovetti operated independently for many decades, each maintaining its distinct identity and design philosophy. However, the advent of the internet prompted a required change in our family business: we consolidated our operations under one brand, a decision spurred by our commitment to floral excellence over the financial strains of urban retail rent prices. This move allowed our family to continue to focus on acquiring the finest, freshest and best blooms and to continue investing in our award winning floral designers, rather than contending with the staggering rents of $33,800+ per month for just 326 square feet in the Financial District and $26,700 for our South of Market store. Such financial decisions underscored our dedication to ensuring that every dollar spent by our customers directly enhances the quality and value of our floral arrangements - which is unmatched anywhere among the other top 5 florists with us in the United States and any other florist in San Francisco.

Our story is also intertwined with cinematic history, notably our connection to Alfred Hitchcock, for whom we were the personal florist. This relationship not only solidified our reputation within the film industry but also saw our flowers featured in Hitchcock's masterpiece, Vertigo, cementing our place in pop culture.

The origins of Rossi & Rovetti trace back to Pelicano Rossi Flowers, founded by Alfonso Pelicano, an Italian immigrant who began his floral journey selling bouquets directly on San Francisco's docks in May of 1900. Almost two decades later, following his service in World War I, he partnered with his longtime friend and fellow Italian immigrant, Angelo Rossi, a future San Francisco Mayor. Their venture thrived, benefiting from their shared work ethic and vision, as well as their influential friendship with Mayor James Rolph. Angelo Rossi's mayoral tenure, succeeding Rolph, was marked by significant contributions to the city's landscape, including the construction of the Golden Gate Bridge.

The transition to the name Rossi & Rovetti happened in September 1958.  It came under Vincent Rovetti's leadership which awarded him ownership in the shop, and it also marked a new era of growth and innovation.  Mr. Rovetti had been the longtime store manager and lead florist of Podesta Baldocchi. The Rovetti family consolidated and Rossi & Rovetti with Podesta Baldocchi were merged under one family's guidance unifying two storied legacies, heralding a future of shared vision and continued excellence.
